About Emme Works
Four engineers, ten people,
one method
We are a visual communication studio in Bologna. We read the project first, then we make it. Here’s how we got here
Our Story
How it started
It started between Francesco and Duccio. Francesco was working inside an architecture studio. Duccio was freelancing. The two decided to combine forces. A little after, Duccio met Giovanni. Luca joined soon after. The four of us had all studied at the same engineering school in Bologna, and we all loved art, cinema, manga, and architecture. The studio came from that overlap.
The first months were not glamorous. We worked mostly for other studios that subcontracted us and paid almost nothing. The hardest part was not the work. The hardest part was getting paid.
The turning point came when a Florence-based studio called Luca Dini asked us for a massive amount of images. It was a bet. We started hiring.
The bet paid off. We delivered. We kept growing. We found new clients who valued images that convey ideas and emotions, not just execute tasks. In 2025, we helped A-FACT win the Podgorica Museum and Cultural Park competition. The image that made the difference ended up selected for the Inbetweeness 2024 exhibition. In 2024, we made the winning visuals for MVRDV’s Busan skyscraper. In 2025, The Plan magazine published a profile of us titled Capturing the Soul of Architecture in an Image.
Today we are ten people in Bologna. Architects are about 10–20% of our income. The rest is product, brand, and visual communication work for Italian manufacturers, Swiss developers, and international partners. We are specialized in visual communication, and it happened that we are engineers.
The Founders
Four engineers · One school · Four roles
Francesco
Co-Founder · Account Management & Sales
Francesco worked inside an architecture studio before starting Emme Works. He leads client accounts, runs the first conversations, and keeps the studio grounded in what clients actually need, not what studios assume they want.
Duccio Parisini
Co-Founder · Business Development
Duccio was freelancing when Francesco suggested joining forces. Today he leads new business and the studio’s commercial direction, bringing in the partnerships that keep the pipeline full and the projects meaningful.
Luca
Co-Founder · Art Direction & Production
Luca holds the visual standard. He reviews every image before it leaves the studio, sets the composition rules that make a ten-image set feel like one voice, and trains the team to see what the software alone can’t teach.
Giovanni
Co-Founder · Product Visualization & Operations
Giovanni leads the product and brand visualization work: the 1000+ images we’ve delivered for Italian manufacturers over the past three years, most of them under NDA. He also runs internal operations for the studio.
The Team
Plus six more people who make this work
Our artists, project managers, and technical leads are what makes ten people deliver the output of twenty. They come from our network: former colleagues, referrals from people we trust, and collaborators from earlier projects who wanted to keep working with us.

How We Work
Three rules we built the studio around
01
Read the project first
Before we render a single frame, we try to understand what the project is trying to say. Not the brief. The project. This is the step most studios skip, and it’s the one that decides whether the image wins.
02
Compose with intent
A photorealistic render that nobody composed is still just a photo of nothing. We test 20–30 angles internally for every hero image, because the decision of where to place the camera is more important than the software we use.
03
Protect the work
Our clients’ work is not our portfolio. Most of the images we’re proudest of live behind NDAs and will stay there. We honour confidentiality without exception. It’s why those brands keep coming back.
